The class today was pattern speaking.

What I Learned

1. Are you ready to...?

= Are you ready + to + verb (present tense) + noun

= Are you ready + for + noun / pronoun

Are you ready to go?

Are you ready to study English?

Are you ready to catch the ball?

Are you ready for the test?

2. I'm not ready to...?

= I'm not ready to + verb (present tense)

= I'm not ready for + noun/pronoun

I'm not ready to go out yet.

I'm not ready to order yet.

I'm not ready for my trip.

I'm not ready to settle down.

3. I was about to...?

= I was about to + verb (present tense) + (noun/pronoun)

I was about to leave.

I was about to call you.

I was about to tell you the story.

I was about to ask you the same question.

4. I was just going to...?

= I was just going to + verb (present tense)

I was just going to say that.

I was just going to send you a text message.

I was just going to take a bath.

I was just going to make a reservation.

5. I'm planning to...?

= I'm planning to + verb (present tense)

I'm planning to get together with my family.

I'm planning to go to graduate school.

I'm planning to quit my job soon.

I'm planning to have 50 people over.

✔ was going to & was about to = I planned to do something, but a change took place.

(ex. The sentence "I was about to wake up" is a little bit strange because I did wake up. 

The sentence "I was about to wake up at 8AM" is much better because I didn't wake up at 8AM.)

✔ was just going to vs was about to = similar, but just means right before.

I was just going to have new iPhone this week, but the delivery of the product was delayed.

-> I was just going to have a new iPhone this week, but the delivery of the product was delayed.

I'm planning to go to prestigious company.

-> I'm planning to go to a prestigious company.
